I push my powers out ahead of us to light the way through the secret passage that Meg created. With my magic, I widen the walls and map a direct route to my suite. No way would I risk anyone seeing my mate while she lolls lazily against my chest, sated and spent.

“I prefer you dirty, but I’ll enjoy bathing you.” I pause, letting the echo of my hooves against the stone die. “Though tonguing you was far more enjoyable.”

She snorts a giggle, a light glimmer of glee. I savor the sound and keep it close as I move the last few walls to grant us access to the royal suite. The bubble of the natural hot spring in my bathing chamber splashes and gurgles. Overloaded with magic for the first time in years, I waste powers to turn on the shower, letting the water billow with steam before I set Meg on her feet next to it.

“This green gown was my favorite.” She bunches what’s left of the ruined dress over her nipples, her breasts too large for her to cover with scraps of silk.

“Don’t hide your beauty from me.” The edge of a growl in my voice makes the command rougher than intended, but she drops the silk with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes that makes me wonder if she didn’t enjoy the snap. “I’ll bring you more dresses in whatever color you like, so long as you let me look at you now.”

A rosy flush spreads over her cheeks, as pink and pretty as other parts of her. Her hair has long since fallen from whatever fancy hairstyle she had this morning, and red curls stick to her temples. No matter the mud on her face or her spoiled gown, when she cocks her head, she has the presence of a queen.

“You like what you see?” Her teasing tone dares me to challenge her.

“You know you’re exquisite.” Or she should. I punctuate the description with a sweep of my mouth over her collarbone.
